Respite Care

Caregivers face many challenges. A primary caregiver who is under too much stress from the constant demands of care giving cannot provide adequate care. Arranging respite care for the first time may be difficult, but it should become an essential part of any caregiver’s schedule. Some signs that may signal a need to arrange for respite care include:

  • Increased anxiety
  • Decline in sleep
  • An increase in irritability
  • Feeling of anger towards care recipient

Respite care provides a break for you and care for your loved one. Although there are different approaches to respite care, all have the same basic objective; to provide caregivers with planned temporary, intermittent, substitute care, allowing for relief from the daily responsibilities of care for the care recipient.
